thanks to the lovely sunshine of the last few days. You should have a wonderful selection of ripe fruit ready for you this coming weekend! Remember that Cornelius Pass Rd. is now closed for the remainder of the 2019 season so access to Hillside is from Germantown Rd. to Kaiser Rd. all the way to last driveway on the left.
Warmer temperatures are on the way and the coming weekend looks perfect for berry picking. Cornelius Pass Rd will still be open - closing July 22nd through September 2019. Please see the "Contact Us" page for alternate directions to Hillside for the remainder of the season.
I have just finished mowing the rows and the Spartans look fabulous for this weekend. Come early for the best selection of fruit. The Nelsons should be ready to open in another week. Hope to see you!
How thrilling to see each and every one of you this past weekend for my season opener! A huge thanks for such great picking as you took the top fruit so carefully off the bushes. Cooler temperatures are bringing on the fruit this year in stages. With energy now to bring on the bottom fruit, the warmer temperatures from Thursday on should be just what the Spartans need to be ready for you. I am so looking forward to another weekend of treasured faces!
The Spartans finally taste like they are ready for you to take home. Please come this next weekend and enjoy the first fruit of the 2019 season. The weather should be perfect for picking and I am excited to see everyone again!
Please be patient for at least another week as I wait for sugars to set. The Spartan crop is abundant, huge and blue but not yet perfectly ripe. I promise to announce my opening just as soon as I know you will harvest the quality fruit you have come to expect!!
Thank heaven for this heat!!! I just walked the rows and saw some first glimpses of blue. If I were guessing I would say it will be about 2 more weeks AND please stay tuned. I will announce just as soon as the fruit is ripe and perfect for you to pick.
It has been a busy past few months at Hillside Blueberries. All 14 rows have been pruned, new sawdust has been spread and all rows have been hoed for weed control. We are currently mowing weekly and waiting for the fruit formation and ripening cycles to finish. The bees have done their magic and it looks to be another bountiful season for both varieties of berries. Stay tuned weekly for updates. We need warmer days to develop and ripen fruit and then we will announce our opening.
I am so looking forward to seeing each of you again soon!
It is hard to believe that Hillside Blueberries has been open 7 weekends already. Wonderful memories adorn the recently updated "Gallery" page so be sure to look for yourself there. I would be thrilled to post any photos you have that I do not. Please, please send them along!!! It has been a bumper year and I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing both new and old faces delighting in continued blueberry fun.
This coming weekend will be our last. Be sure to take advantage of reduced pricing if you can use some extra fruit or if by chance a busy summer has not yet provided a time for you to pick. On Tuesday, August 14th, we will start gleaning the field to donate to the Oregon Food Bank. Feel free to join us that morning at 7:30 am if you would like to help. Many hands do indeed make light work and we do this in honor of Ralph.
Wishing you and yours a wonderful remainder of summer and a school year ahead rich in love, health, friends and family.
The Nelson rows are still loaded with gorgeous fruit and waiting to be picked. Temperatures are predicted to be much milder so come on out and fill your baskets with wonderful blueberries. The weeks are flying by and soon it will all be over for another year. Victor and I were busy tidying all of the field today and it is ready and waiting for you for another fabulous weekend. So hope to see you soon!
